Mission & Founding Vision

The Hemline advances storytelling, cyclical care, ancestral wellness, and community advocacy for women and historically overlooked communities. We aim to be a trusted, transparent, and accountable hybrid organization—operating both a for‑profit arm for earned revenue and a nonprofit arm for charitable activities.

Planned Revenue Streams

  • Shop Sales / Services (For-Profit)
    Earned revenue to sustain operations and support creative development

  • Program Fees (Sliding Scale) (For-Profit or Nonprofit)
    Cost-recovery for select workshops or services

  • Individual Donations (Nonprofit)
    Restricted or unrestricted mission support

  • Grants (Foundations/Corporate) (Nonprofit)
    Restricted program funding

  • Sponsorships (Nonprofit, or For-Profit with contract)
    Event and program underwriting

Planned Expense Allocation

  • Programs & Services — 50%
    Workshops, grants, community initiatives

  • Community Events — 15%
    Seasonal gatherings, exhibitions, retreats

  • Content & Storytelling — 15%
    Publishing, podcasting, video production

  • Admin / Overhead — 10%
    Operations, staff, technology

  • Fundraising — 10%

The Hemline will maintain strict separation between nonprofit donations and for‑profit revenue, including:

• Separate legal entities with distinct EINs

• Separate bank accounts and accounting systems

• Documented, board-approved agreements for any transfers between entities

• Tracking of restricted gifts to ensure donor intent is honored

• Annual publication of Impact & Financial Reports once operations begin

Transparency Commitment

Although we have no financial activity to report for this founding year, we are committed to:

• Publishing annual Impact & Financial Reports

• Posting Form 990s and/or financial statements when available

• Providing clear, accessible information to donors, customers, and partners
